How to Donate

Cash Donations:

Explaining how to donate..Simply send a check or money order directly to us, made out to: Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County, Inc., P.O. Box 1205, Youngstown, Ohio 44501-1205.

If your financial donation is $100 or larger, please make it out, and send it, to The Youngstown Foundation, P.O. Box 1162, Youngstown, OH 44501 with Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County written on the Memo line. The Youngstown Foundation adds 5% to your gift and forwards the total to HfHMC.

You can also make an online donation with a debit or credit card. To insure that your donation is forwarded to HfHMC, please choose the "Habitat affiliate named below" on the donation page and type "Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County" in the blank provided.

Note: Your gift to Habitat is used locally to build simple, decent, affordable homes for and with God's low-income people – with one small exception. As an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, HfHMC is required to send a tithe to HfHI. We tithe by sending $3000 to HfHI each time we dedicate a house. We have designated that tithe money to be used overseas because the average Habitat house built overseas costs $700. Our tithe money goes a lot further when not used in the U.S. So your gift plays an important role both here in the Mahoning Valley and worldwide.

Churches, Service Clubs, Businesses, Banks, etc. quite often set a goal of sponsoring a whole house which is $58,000 or they decide on a half-house sponsorship at $29,000 and challenge other organizations for the remaining half – or Habitat often raises the other half during construction. Sometimes organizations decide to provide all the windows or doors or the kitchen cabinets or flooring, etc. in a particular house. Many organizations that pledge dollars also provide volunteers (employees or members) to help build "their" house.

House Sponsorships

Churches, Service Clubs, Businesses, Banks, etc. quite often set a goal of sponsoring a whole house which is $70,000 or they decide on a half-house sponsorship at $35,000 and challenge other organizations for the remaining half. Sometimes as many as 20 churches form covenants and work together to raise the funds for a house.
